Master Your Finances: How to Use the Sapts Budgeting Tool

Scanning receipts is only half the battle; knowing how much you have left to spend is where the real power lies. The Sapts Budgeting Tool allows you to set monthly limits for different parts of your business so you never overspend again.

Here is your step-by-step guide to setting up your first budget inside the Sapts app.

Step 1: Access the Budget Dashboard

From the main home screen, tap on the “Reports & Analytics” tab in the bottom navigation bar. If you haven’t set a budget yet, you will see a clean slate with a button labeled “Add Budget.”

Step 2: Choose Your Category

A good budget is organized. Tap the “Add Budget” button and select a category you want to track.

  • Common Categories: Business, Education, Entertainment, Food & Dining, Healthcare, Shopping, Transportation, Utilities, and more.
  • Note: These categories match the tags you use when you scan a receipt, making the tracking automatic!

Step 3: Set Your Monthly Limit

Enter the maximum amount you want to spend on that category for the month (e.g., “$200 for Shopping”) and then tap the “Save” button.

Pro Tip: Look at your “Past Reports” in Sapts to see what you spent last month so you can set a realistic goal. Ensure you are viewing the current month and year for accurate tracking.

Step 4: Real-Time Tracking

This is where Sapts does the work for you. Every time you scan a new receipt and categorize it, the app automatically subtracts that amount from your budget and updates your Progress Bar instantly.

Visual Cues:

  • 🟢 Green: You are well within your limit.
  • 🟡 Yellow: You have used 80% of your budget—spend carefully!
  • 🔴 Red: You have exceeded your limit.

Step 5: Review Your “Remaining Balance”

Before you make a new purchase, open the Reports & Analytics tab. Sapts will show you exactly how much “Safe to Spend” money you have left for the month, preventing any “sticker shock” at the end of the month.

Step 6: Resetting for the New Month

By default, Sapts doesn’t automatically roll your budget over. On the 1st of every month, your progress bars reset to zero, giving you a fresh start!
